Hello!

I've received an antique silver ladle that I was told was German in origin. It has a gold wash bowl and measures approx. 13" in length. It is engraved, "B.A." and is marked on the back, "BLUHM," a lion in a box with an open mouth and high curled tail, "750" and an indeciferable mark that looks as if it was crossed out.

I would love to know more about this wonderful ladle. Any help would be so appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello, the 750 would imply a German origin. The name Bluhm (a retailer ?) is not uncommon in Germany and a lion (the city mark ?) was used by different cities. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello Bahner!
Is it possible to date items from these marks?

Hello, most likely ca. 1860, give or take a decade. Best wishes, Bahner
