Makers Mark? Looks London 1889.

Hello Members
Is this makers Mark W. complete? is it London 1889?
Does anyone know scene on lid ,may be a Roman scene?

Yes, London 1889. And the mark is definitely not complete. I suspect W.C for William Comyns but I can't be sure as the shape of what remains of the punch doesn't quite seem to match any of Comyns's marks.

Many thanks for your help. Looks like the maker is going to be William ------ ?,Hunter,Edward Hurcomb ,Sumner etc
It is not my box ,looking it up for a friend ,there were other marks on the side of the box ,I am getting her to send images,this may give us the answer.
I should have taken the photo,while I was there (thought they would be the same.) Thanks for confirming date.
