Newbie here. First post. Don't think I have atttachment privileges. Anyway my story. I won't name the auction house I purchased at recently, but they obviously hadn't taken a close enough look at their items. Six 1804 London table forks by William Eley 1 and William Fearn. Hanoverian military pattern, 8 inches. I turned one of them over. 78th Highlander regiment, 2nd batallion beneath their motto among thistles above the makers marks. Six others the same. No mention in the catalogue.
I keep quiet. Very quiet. This of course proves the adage. View before you buy. It turns out the second batallion reformed in 1804 before a very bloody European and North African deployment.
I'd love to post pictures.
