American (Southern?) Coin Silver Pitcher Marked D & C

I'm not sure I uploaded the photos properly but the link is above.

11 inches tall and 856 grams. I looked through the Winterthur database and a few books of American silversmiths from the period, no answers.
I know it was gifted as a pair to an individual in New Orleans circa 1843. No luck though finding the maker, D & C, any insight would be
appreciated.
