Gorham Mfg Co Lion Anchor G mark help

Post by hpidaves »

I have 3 forks (6-1/2") that are marked with only Lion Anchor G Gorham Mfg Co. I cannot find the pattern anywhere. They appear to be quite old, very thin and easily bent. When I got them, they were terribly bent -- I did my best to make them somewhat presentable. My best guess would be the Italian pattern (1865), but I can find only 1 photo of that pattern and it's just the top part of the handle. Might these be coin silver? Did Gorham mark coin silver in this manner?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave

I took a 30x closeup of the lion anchor G. It seems to match up with the one listed on this site as the last quarter of the 19th century.
