Help Identifying these miniature silver cups

Post by Dreaminglion »

Can anyone help me identify / date / silver content of these beautiful silver miniature cups. I have a set of 6, they each have 3 hallmarks on the inside bottom of cup. They measure 1 1/2 " tall and opening of cups measure 2 1/8" in dia.

Hi,

It's Egyptian with marks from after 1948.
The marks are upside down, but they are the date letter in arabic, the palm and probably the town mark.

Hope that helped.

Thanks for that,

I must correct myself that it is 1946 instead of 1948.
After reading the other posts (that I missed somehow), things are becomming a bit clearer to me. I took my Tardy to one of my Arabic speaking neighbours and they were very confused with the town letters. No I know why (Tardy got them wrong).
A few errors are forgiven in such an extended work .. good that we have forums like these nowadays.

Tardy also lists the "lotus" as a "palmier". A palmier would translate to "palm" if I'm correct. Does anyone have some information about that as I don't have green hands.
