Saliere Moscow 1776

Post by silverfan »

Under the bottom I recognize 4 marks
1. maker's mark in cyrillic TF for Timofei Filippov PL 2941
2. ?town mark Moscow PL 1983? (not legible)
later punched
3. over the maker's mark: assayer's mark AA for Andreev, Andrej PL 2085
4. over the town mark: cyrillic AFP in a heart shape for Fedor Petrov PL 2131
In our forum I find nothing about Timofei Filippov and via google I only found TC for Timofei Filippov Siluianov PL 2934.
That cannot be the same though period could match!? Doe anybody know some biographical details about Filippov?

This is an interesting question.
Indeed, Timofey Filippov "ТФ" and Timofey Filippov Siluyanov "ТС" may be the same person (according to the data from the PL, both were born in 1736). If Timofey received the surname Siluyanov when he was already a silversmith, then the stamps "TФ" should be earlier than "TС". Another question is: do the brands that are shown in the PL handbook really belong to them?))). If "ТС" Siluyanov was born in 1736 (he died around 1793), then silver products with the stamps "TС" since 1750 cannot belong to him.

Thanks for your input, Mart. It seems that nobody else can add something to this question.
