Help identify maker by hallmark

Post by nomzer »

Hello,

I cant seem to find the maker of this silver enamel egg and wondered if someone might be able to tell me who is the maker of it. It belongs to my family since early 20th century. [https://imgur.com/4S39E99][https://imgur.com/jIkERhn]

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Hello! The brand is: "A и Ф.О" The factory of Pavel Ovchinnikov was one of the most famous in Russia. Pavel had a younger brother, Alexei. For some time, Alexey worked independently, and then as a director at Pavel’s factories. At the very beginning of the 1880s, Alexey decided to open an independent business with his son Fyodor, “Alexey and Fyodor Ovchinnikovs.” This is how the “A и Ф.О” mark appeared on silver products.

If you have the opportunity to photograph the hallmark (where the 84 standard silver and the coat of arms) are as large and sharp as possible, then this will be very good. You may be able to use daylight and a magnifying glass. As far as I understand, there are no other marks on the product.
