Old psalterbook with silver clasp

Post by Vantlicht »

This old book inscripted with 1764 is marked with several hallmarks. There is the citymark for Schoonhoven and a star. Who can help me with this one?

Indeed, town mark Schoonhoven, 18th century.

The silver book clap, maker's mark, a 6 pointed star for Pieter Vergeer, parents, Jan Vergeer and Elisabeth Kleyn. Started in 1762 and stopped in 1806-1807, married on 27-9-1777 to Jacoba Roosenburg. Guild functions Dean in 1788-1793 and assayer in 1787. Year letter S for 1768

The corner-pieces, makers mark P in contour also used by Pieter Vergeer. Such one-letter master marks in Schoonhoven were discontinued after February 8, 1767. Probably to avoid confusion with year letters. Year letter P for 1765.

Peter.
