W.STERLING

Post by amena »

This pourer has a strange hallmarking.
Under Crescent, W.STERLING has strange codes.
The lower one seems to be composed of Greek letters
Does anyone know where it is from and the meaning of codes?

Thanks for attention

Hello Amena
This appears to be the mark of Watrous Manufacturing Co., an American firm.

See here

https://www.925-1000.com/ax_watrous.html

The number PE 13 is most likely a catalogue or model number, and 4 Pts is the liquid measure contained in the pitcher = 4 pints.

Hi Amena,

It's a product of the Watrous Mfg. Co. of Wallingford, Connecticut.

Those mystery figures just say 4 Pts (four pints).

See: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_W2.html

Thanks to both of you.
I only now recognize the two dashes under the letters T and S, not Greek letters.
How embarrassing!!

No worries Amena.
Yes, hard to recognize if you don’t think in imperial measures, but rather in metric!
