I have a box that I think is plated , can any one tell me, what it was used for, its about 5.5cm x5cm and 2cm high, it has a hallmark and a little knob on top to open it. Please see photo's.
Any information would be greatly appreciated, I'm not sure if I'm in the right area. Thanks

Knickerbocker Silver Company, Port Jervis, New York. I believe they changed their name from the Knickerbocker Manufacturing Company sometime between 1900 and 1904. Taken over by the Crescent Silverware Mfg. Company in 1962.

Thank You for that information, does any one know what this box was used for, i thought maybe snuff ,but it does'nt seal and I've never seen one with a knob on the lid. Beth

The knob on the lid is in the shape of a shirt stud or collar button, those are what it was intended to hold.

I can see it now, have you any idea how old it would be? I presume it was made in the USA as its Knickerbocker Silver Company.
I would never have guessed thats what it was used for.
