Prussia silver spoon Jul Frey

Post by ilovespooning »

Greetings,

I am wondering if anyone knows if this mark "Jul Frey" with crossed keys and "70"? I have found other examples that relate it to Prussia and call it silver. Can someone confirm whether it is indeed 70/1000 silver or silver plate? Or know of other information about the maker. I'd like to learn more about these spoons.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Julius Frey from Breslau, Germany (today Wroclaw, Poland), silver 700/1000 fine. Don't know by heart when Breslau introduced the 70 mark, believe it was in the late 1850ies. So this can be dated roughly 1850ies to 1880ies. Regards Bahner

Hi Bahner,

Thanks so much! It was difficult to find more information from my searches. I also see my typo, I meant 700/1000 - thank you for confirming the quality mark and timeframe :) More to go off of now!

Kind regards
