Help with New Zealand (?) maker's mark

Post by dancula »

Does anyone recognise the maker "A.C & Co"?
It is from a bread fork engraved 'New Zealand'.
Thank you

:::: I don't see how it could be Angus & Coote but that's the only possibility I can come up with, the original Coote died in 1947, did he have a son who continued the silversmithing business? :::::

::::: Had the fork not been marked "New Zealand" I would still have suspected Australia/NZ because of the distinctive "incuse letters" of the maker's mark stamp, that is seem quite often on Australia silversmiths. ::::::

::::: I'm not sure how to check New Zealand silversmiths, is there an authoritative book on the subject of New Zealand silversmiths? :::::::::::
