Taxco Silver Brooch Signed “Ledesma” and “Margarita”

Post by lovemadgirl »

This is my first post.

I acquired a very large mid-century Taxco silver and obsidian brooch to add to my collection attributed to Enrique Ledesma.

The brooch features Ledesma's stamped mark ("Taxco Ledesma 925") along with an additional circular stamp that appears to read "Margarita" (though partially obscured) as well as eagle 3.

I have not been able to find documentation of a silversmith named Margarita working with Ledesma, so I wanted to ask:

Has any one encountered any pieces with this Margarita mark in connection with Ledesma's workshop?
Could this refer to a lesser-known artisan, perhaps a woman working in the studio?

If anyone has any insight, or could recommend resources for further research, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am not yet sure how to ask for permission to add images.

Thank you in advance. Much appreciated.

Thank you. I'm not sure these photos will work because preview is showing ? marks. That's why I thought it was an approval. Probably doing something wrong. Maybe it's my browser.

For additional context the brooch/pendant is about 2-5/8" in length. Pretty substantial. Smooth as butter. Also the design looks nothing any other Ledesma workshop pieces that I've seen on-line.

Hi,

Trev. Thanks. I wish your little snippet would be added to FAQ.... I used Dropbox before I saw your reply. But very helpful. Sorry to be tripping over myself.
