ID English Cane bought in '44, used on Omaha Bch D-Day + 45

Post by 8Years2Go »

Evening Everyone,
I am trying to help an elderly friend of mine ID a cane he purchased in London in May of 1944 and used to walk up Omaha Beach on D-Day plus 45.
I can clearly make out 2 of the 4 marks. but the others are hard to see due to the design in the cane handle. The makers initials looks like F or J and then then letter H. The two I can reconize are from far right, A and the Lion. I am including three photos and a scketch of what the unidentied marks look like.
Thanks for any help, JC

Hello,

I can't make out the maker, but the other mark you were unsure of is the Birmingham anchor. It was made in 1925.

Miles,
Thanks for the quick response. I'll have to go to Birmingham Maker's Marks and take a closer look at the hallmark with a maginy glass, and see if it is close to any of the maker marks listed on 925-1000.
Thanks again, Jim
