Hello, neither Scheffler nor Schliemann document a Hamburg maker with this mark. Sorry. Best wishes, Bahner

Hallo thanks for the reply. That is most interesting. The fork is surely Hamburg- that gives 2 different alternatives.
1. its an unknown Hamburg mark or, 2. the smith is not from Hamburg but the fork is tested there afterwards.
What is most likly? the second alternative probably.
Regarding the spoon - I will try to get a better picture. In the same lot was some more silver from Hamburg 6 forks and 6 spoons from 1869. I will also post picture of them.

Hello, I believe it is an yet unknown Hamburg maker. Since Schliemann published his exhaustive study, more than two dozen Hamburg marks have been identified, that were unknown to both Schliemann and Scheffler. Hamburg marks were punched on pieces of registered Hamburg makers or dealers only, so it seems very unlikely that it was made outside of Hamburg. Best wishes, Bahner
