Small round case with unidentified marking

Post by janedowe »

Hello,

I have identified this piece as best I could. I know it's German by the symbols that are (appear to be) a moon and crown. My piece has 2 moons and a crown - not sure if this means anything. Does it?

What could the right-most marking be?. I originally though it to be a 01, but now I think it is an 'M'. I could not find anything similar in the German Silver section.

Also, I don't exactly know what this item is. Could you please identify it for me. The diameter is approx. an inch.

Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, the mark is a little incomplete here. It is a "M" with a little four-pointed star on top, all in a circle: Heinrich Mohr from Pforzheim. No dates here, sorry. Best wishes, Bahner

Also, I don't exactly know what this item is.
It looks like a snuffbox.
