As ever, my question to you all is of the sponsor; as while WH occurs several times, I do not find one in the right date range.

Small snuff box 1816?, T.W

Dear All, I offer for comment this plain, quite conventional snuff box. The worn marks seem to read:- Duty mark: Sponsor T.W: London date letter of 1816 and the passant below these.

Please could my interpretation be confirmed ...

Re: Double marked match safe looking for maker
From image 8728a, the readable marks (as you may well have found by now) are Birmingham, before May 1st 1890. The sponsor mark looks something like Minshull & Latimer. The other marks are a total mystery.

Engine-turned Decoration
Google having served me poorly, please can anyone steer me to any studies/websites/books that particularly focus on the kind of engine-turned decoration much used on Birmingham smallwares. Technical info. is welcome, but wider design issues is my main interest. Thanks.

Engine-turned pill box, Sponsor LW&G

This is what I assume to be a pill box, marked for 1910, diameter 44mm. Believing that I've checked all of the sources, please may I ask if anybody has established whose sponsor mark this is? It is listed on Silver Makers Marks but without a name. As always, thank ...

One of the lost Chester records? Maker W&WI
Dear All,
I understand that Chester Assay lost a certain portion of its archives and wonder if this maker may have been amongst them. I have looked on every website I know and rechecked the Chester 'bible' but have drawn a complete blank. Can anyone please point me?

..and again
Help please from an owner of London references for this bookmatch case. The images do not do it justice, the outside is engine-turned and the inside (as some will deduce) is flashed with gold in a frosted form. There is also engraved a poigniantly restrained "From Shirley", a story ...

Chester Mark W&W.I - Late C19th Watch Fob
Hello All,
Please may I have some help with the maker of this watch fob? I had thought that the standard reference book for Chester would supply every answer I needed. I may of course have slipped and overlooked it.
The other side, which is even more worn than that shown, seems to have a snake and ...

Mike and Miles, I'm obliged to you. The focus of my interest has been Birmingham, but clearly there was overlap with Chester. May I have details of this Ridgeway & Priestly reference - assuming it is available.

This is a real challenge and I must fess up that I have already sent the item to Birmingham Assay and they wouldn't pass an opinion, but I still want to know - sorry folks.

Smith & Bartlam - Birmingham & Chester
This came up last in August '07 (Tongtwister replied), but is it now known if Smith & Bartlam had two marks? The standard I knew was a central circle with a fusil either side - this as you see is three fusils. Can it possibly be anyone else?

Sponsor's mark S&A
Hello Simon,
In case you haven't had an answer yet. I had my example checked with Birmingham and it is Swan(n) & Adams.
Cheers

1927 Bookmatch Case C&C
First posting on this site, so please forgive gaffes. I would like help please identifying this sponsor mark (C&C). The nearest I have found to it is that of Albert Cohen & Charles Solomon - but that is a Sheffield mark.
