Re: Dutch Dinner Spoon

Hi,

To me it looks like the early silver mark of Emden in Ostfriesland.

Thanks Agphile, for your reaction.
I know normal you would have two initials. I thought on some early peaces you sometimes see one initial.
Also because of the shape I thought it could be Englisch and the bright collor looks a very high grate silver i think Britania silver of 958

Miniature toy punch bowl

Can anyone help me to determinate this miniature punchbowl
Altough it looks like a salt seller, I think it is a miniature punch bowl.
It is only marked with a makers mark.
It stands 4.3 cms high and is 6.5 cms wide and the weight is 69 gr.
It is handmade with a centerpoint in the middle.
To me it ...

Hi Rat-tail.

The little box is a peppermint-box.
I think the makers mark is FB 105 and stands for Frederik van Baaren, who worked in Schoonhoven from 1853-1887
If it's alright, you see a very smal M in the head of Minerva pic. 4

We find A2 in Amsterdam B2 in Utrecht C2 in the Hague enz.

Hi,

If this spoon is Dutch, 17th century and marked like this ,it also should have a sratch "Trembleersteek".
The weight is alright for an old spoon between 2-3 gram/centimeter, late 19th C spoons often are to heavy.
I don't know the design of the end of this spoon as Dutch.
But I also know that we ...

Hi Trev.
The silversheet linner is not removable and is totaly black( as the rim was). Because this silver is very thin I did not clean it, and I could not see anything that looked like a mark.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reaction.
Very helpfull, also with this 'blackjack' the silver rim does not fit very well, also because of the silver-sheat liner inside.

Hi Miles,
I think you and Trev. are right, probably the silver is from a later date.

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for your reaction.
There are no other marks on the silver mounth, only the makersmark IP and the lion passant.
I can't find other marks, no rubbed marks.
I know it will be very difficult to find out the maker.

Hi Dognose,

It is a fantastic piece and about 18cm (7inch) high.
There is nothing between the IP, it's just the reflection.
I am not sure about the date of this 'blackjack', I also red that sometimes the silver mounth is from a later date.

Britisch provincial?

Dear forum,

Does anybody know this maker?
I am the owner of a leather 'blackjack' with a silver mounth.
To me it looks quit early. The silver mounth is marked only with a lion, walking to the left and a makersmark IP.
Because there are no other marks, I think it is maybe Brithisch Provincial.
