Help with identifying a manufacturer please.

Hello forum,

My neighbour recently found a few silver items at home including this small salt shaker. It's 5cm tall with a twist base to open and close the body for refilling.

It's stamped Birmingham 1949 with a clear maker's mark "I & D" over "Co". I just can't find out who that is. Can anyone ...

Name of Maker and possibly the importer too please.

Hello forum.

I have an 800 grade table snuff box approximately 7 cm across.

The hallmarks on the base I believe suggest it's German. However I can't find a maker for it. Can you help?

Re: Pepperette with replacement top. Maker of the top?

Phil,

Many thanks for your reply. And all that you say makes perfect sense.

looking again under a loupe, what I thought was a split across the second letter actually looks like the left side of the Mappin and Webb shield stamp cutting into the letter E. It's separated the tail of the E to make it ...

Pepperette with replacement top. Maker of the top?

Hello forum,

I'm not sure this is precisely the right group to post in as you will see.

Yesterday I bought this Pepperette at an antiques fair. It's slightly over 8 cm tall with a removable Bristol blue liner. The base is quite clearly hallmarked for Mappin and Webb, Sheffield with a date letter ...

Help Please, anything you can tell me about this piece.

Hello forum,

I recently purchased this small tumbler/cup which was labelled as Norwegian silver though with no other information.

It's around 5 cm wide at the rim, just over 3 cm at the base and 4 cm high. From the main image you should be able to make out some tiny chasing around the rim and ...

Byron,

Actually I made a typo in the original post. It is a 'K' anf I meant to type 1859 and not 49. Good spot as the date letter was very obscure in my photo.

Byron,

Thank you. How did I miss that!?

I searched the Birmingham Assay site before I posted here and didn't find the A&S mark. I think what threw me was not being able to enter the '&'. Tried it again without the '&' just entering AS and up it popped.

Thanks again, as always the forum comes to ...

Hello forum.

Could someone please help identify the Birmingham maker A & S on a vinaigrette dated 1849 please.

Can you help me identify a Chester maker WA of around 1900

Hello forum,

I recently bought a vinaigrette which has marks for Chester and 1900-1901. The style is right for the date I think and I would like to know who the maker 'WA' is please. Can anyone help?

unidentifiable mark

Interestingly, I have a tobacco pebble with similar importer mark as shown below. I queried this in the forum many moons ago, though without much success unfortunately.

Although AG seems to be identical the city marks are for Chester and 1907 I believe. Did Arthur Graf move to London from Chester ...
