Heavy Silver & Onyx Ring with CP and symbol

Item is a man's heavy silver ring set with a black stone like onyx. The marking includes a copyright symbol together with another symbol (a horizontal closed half circle with an open half circle resting above it) and the initials CP. Also "Sterling". My guess is that it is Native American or Mexican. Thanks for any help.
