European mark? Deco Tulip candleholder

Post by simplysue »

Hello from Australia

I am utterly stuck on the mark on this candleholder. They have been tested and seem to be sterling (test goes bright red!), yet I cannot read the top part of the mark . It looks like it could be NYS, then three illegible marks. The rest can be seen and I hope someone recognises them. I am trying to stay away from letting New York creep into my head for the NY bit as I bought these as Scandinavian

Does anyone have any ideas on this please?

Best wishes

Hello, could the word be "Nysölv" ? In that case it would be plated and from Scandinavia. Nysölv stands for the base metal German silver. Best wishes, Bahner
