The latest effort of Burnett Y. Tiffany, son of the late Charles L, Tiffany, founder of the jewelry firm of Tiffany & Co., came to naught Friday when Supreme Court Justice Greenbaum refused to alter the will of the elder Tiffany. By its provisions Burnett Tiffany was left only $3,000 a year out of a trust fund, unless there should be some radical change in his life and habits. The executors voluntarily increased the amount in 1904 to $18,000 a year after the courts then had refused to interfere. In a former suit to obtain a larger allowance, B. Y. Tiffany declared that the least he could live on, in the manner he was accustomed to live, was $50,000 a year.

Dr. George F. Kunz, of Tiffany & Co., who is president of the American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society, presided at the patriotic exercises in City Hall on July 4. He called attention to the fact that the purpose of the gathering was to think soberly and reverently of those who gave their lives and homes for their country’s sake. Arthur Guitermann, who was at one time connected with the Jewelers’ Weekly, read a poem on the “City Hall Park.”
