French Silver Paste Buckle

Post by mintymin »

Hi everyone
I am in need of your wisdom again.
I have just bought an old? French silver buckle with paste stones. I wondered if anyone recognises the makers mark and could hazard a guess as to age?
The object in the middle of the AP marks could be a fruit of some description but I couldn’t say for sure.
It is the first ever piece in my collection that has bigorne marks on the reverse so I was pretty excited to see them in real life.
Again I appreciate all your help and expertise.
Big thanks

Dear Mintymin,

I would suggest Mr. Pierre Adrien (1910).

A, a fencing mask, P.

I can't find an image illustrating his goldsmith's mark... But I think it's a lead worth following.

Many thanks for the information. That does sound a promising lead.

I agree with the identification of the maker, however as his christian name is Adrien, and his surname Pierre, it might be best to call him Mr. Adrien Pierre. He worked at 145 rue du Temple, Paris, his maker's mark was registered 19th August 1910.
