M.B followed by A.T makers mark

Post by allthatglistens »

I have found Moses Brent and Martin Bird but am unsure who or what the following A.T refers to. They are eclesiastical, a small dish/tray and a small goblet. Any info appreciated.

Hello

The MB AT mark was registered at Goldsmiths Hall in 1881 by Michael Joseph Cunningham Buckley and Arthur Scarlett Thomson trading as Cox, Sons, Buckley & Co from 28 & 29 Southampton Street and 43 & 44 Maiden Lane, London. They specialised in manufacture of church furniture, stained glass and metalwork.
For more history about the firm see Volume 1 page 100 of The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Trades 1838-1914 by John Culme.

Hello,

The objects are a Chalice and a Paten, they are used for the bread and wine at the service of Holy Communion.
