Silverplate and ivory crumb catcher. No information ?
Silverplate and ivory crumb catcher. No information ?
Can anyone assist re silverplate or silver crumb catcher, which is about 13ins long with a 5inch ivory, or possibly bone handle. The only marks consist of a capital block ' B' and similar 'S' both in circles and what I would describe as an ornate Maltese cross in a circle between the letters. There is a possible further mark at the start of these but it is too faded to read. The crumb blade is, I believe, hand worked with a leaf and curl pattern, and the whole item weighs approx 260 grams. I have tried checking in as many places as I cxan locate but being new to this field , I cannot find any information and have assumed it to be silverplate unless I learn otherwise. ANY information re age, origins etc would be greatly appreciated.
