Please I am looking for a clue to who the maker is on this Christening set marked Sterling Pat 1853 has a D on it and a 7 but not circled. Came in a unique oval case. Thanks for any help.

Hi ~ welcome to the forums. Your items are in Henry Hebbard's 'Mask' pattern, the patent date, which is usually preceded by a small 'H.H.', should read '1859' rather than '1853', most will also have a retailer's mark or name (Tiffany, as well as others); Whiting Mfg. acquired the dies for this pattern, along with others, so later production will also be found with their marks.

As a note, only two of your very large pictures show up, and my poor old eyes still can't fully make out the marks - it's helpful to take a macro shot of the marks, and to crop and resize all of your images to a reasonable size, as suggested here: How to Add Images . Embedded images will have more viewers as many will not click on links - just copy & paste the 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards' code after uploading resized pics.
