Deykin, (J.& W.H.), (& Son), (& Harris) of Jennens Row, Birmingham, Warwickshire
These are some “contributors notes”, mainly dates referenced while researching a post relating to the “Prussian Silver” trademark used by Deykin & Son in the 2nd half of the 19th century.
The Deykin name has been associated with the Birmingham electroplated cutlery trade for a considerable period, but the start was as a button maker. Although said to have had a late !8th century (1780's) beginning, the earliest record that I had access to was 1828.

By this next directory entry there had been a change and there was an additional business headed by William Henry Deykin making German Silver electro-plated spoons. All this was occurring at 6 Jennen's Row. In some records this address is qualified with 24 “Masshouse lane” and “St. Bartholomew Square”.

The following 1875 directory entry shows the address has become 1 to 6 Jenning's Row (error??) and both cutlery & buttons are being made though production of the latter ceased not long after.

Deykin & Harrison Ltd seem to cease trading on at the end of the 1930’s.
There are quite a lot of other posts on our Forum featuring "Deykin" including some in this "Birmingham" section and of course the one I mentioned that generated this list of trade directory entries.
