925 estate bracelet - can't decipher the stamp

Post by kerrilea »

Hello! I have never been on this board, but I have a problem I hope someone can help me with. I'm going through some of my Great Aunt's estate jewelry and came across a bracelet. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what is stamped on it. I see the "925" but beyond that I am stuck. To me it looks like "SLAFRI" or "BLAFFI". Can anyone identify it? Here are some thumbnails of the piece and the stamped letters. (These can be clicked on to enlarge them.) I'm sorry, but I can't my camera to take any closer pictures of the letters. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I read the posting requirements and I hope I did everything right.) Thank you!

While it's not the type of work she's noted for, have seen other pieces of similar design from the shop of Italian-born Peruvian maker Graziella Laffi. Her mark usually includes "PERU", but occasionally shows up with just "G.LAFFI" and "925".

Wow! After staring at this stamp some more (I am going to have nightmares about it I think!), someone pointed out to me that the first letter or two look like they may have periods after them. Our newest theory was "G.I. AFFI" or something close. I just came back here to see if there were any posts. That is very close to what you said dragonflywink! What type of work is she noted for, though?

(Thank you so much for looking at this and posting that information!)

dragonflywink - I just went through over 100 digital pictures I took of this bracelet trying to get a decent picture of the name (and hoping that would show me something I was not seeing with the naked eye). I finally hit upon one that came out better than any before... and better than I saw when looking at it. I am pretty sure you are right in your information. Please let me know what you think if you get a chance. Thank you again for the help!
