Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your ring was assayed at Birmingham in 1978.

Thanks for the speedy reply. As I know nothing, could someone explain what each symbol means?

Thanks in advance.

The walking lion (Lion Passant) at the bottom indicates 925/1000 the Sterling standard, the letter D is the date letter for 1978, the anchor is the symbol of the Birmingham Assay Office and at the top is the makers or sponsers mark.
Hope this helps.
