Fruit Knife

Post by chunkylabsrule »

Hi,
I wonder if any of you clever people could help me to decipher these marks on a fruit knife as they have got me beat other than the silver mark. Sorry if they're not that good, if needed I will try to get better ones!
Many thanks!
Carrie ~

Hi Carrie,

Your knife was assayed in Sheffield in 1818. Often on fruit knives of this period, the maker's mark will be on the tang.

Hi Miles,

I can't thank you enough for your wonderfully fast help as it had completely stumped me! I am going through my late parents collectables.

I do have another confusing one that I will try to get on here; it's an amber necklace that has a very strange mark; well to my useless eye anyway!

Thank you so much again!

Kindest regards,

Carrie ~
