Help Identifying Makers Mark on Silver Brooches

Post by dotcomsusie »

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate some help idenfiying the following pair of brooches:

The hallmark reads:

925 with the scales
a heart with possibly something in it
a face?
925 without the scales
Q8

At first I thought they might be old because of the clasp, but I don't suppose they can be that old as they are 925.

I get a Viking type feeling from the design. Not sure if they are a pair but I have two of them.

Thanks in advance.

Hello.

Might be Finland marks.

Hello, the scale with the 925 is the so called CCM mark, introduced in 1975 by the Scandinavian countries plus Ireland, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland and Portugal. The heart (it should contain a little crown), the 925 without the scale and the Q8 are the Finnish garantee marks. The mark in the middle would be the maker' mark. No clue, though. Best wishes, Bahner

Many thanks Bahner, I worked out that Q8 is 1993. I have not found the maker yet or any site that may be of use. I'm wondering now if the are a pair or just a fluke I bought the two at the same time.

All the best.
