I came across this piece recently... It is a Tiffany Clinton Serving Fork (1920?). The monogram is so peculiar that I thought it might have some significance and not simply be a private monogram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In this case it’s presented by somebody who knows him to a person whose profession is railway related — maybe to an engine driver or a switchman?

Signs of railway signals and their significations differ in railway history sometimes in details from country to country.

In this case in NY or US original meaning could be: «Attention rails crossing! » or «Switch forbidden! »

The engraving is a family crest, it's a naked cubit arm erect holding a cross formee, may have originally indicated a military connection. Believe a railway connection is unlikely.
