Hello there,
Enclosed are photos of a Japanese hammered silver bird sulpture. I was hoping someone could identify the maker and help give an approximate dating to the piece.
Thank you in advance for any info I can get.
Well after doing some more research on the internet I found some information about this maker.
Samurai Shokai was the leading Japanese curio shop in Japan of the time, owned by Yozo Nomura (1870-1965). The shop was established in 1894 at 1-20 Honcho, Yokohama. The company was a retailer, but also supported a number of affiliated craftsmen, apparantly many award winning pieces came from these silversmiths.
