Hi any assistance with identifying the maker of this small dutch botton box, or it could be a snuff box (although does not appear to have been gilded), would be appreciated. Measures about 6cm x 4.5cm and is stamped with a very rubbed minerva and makers mark on the lid, and a maker's mark and lion passant - second grade - in the base. Engraved UitErkentenis - which I think is some kind or with thanks. Assume late 19th century. Maker's mark appears to be IL of FL over 065 or 005. The mark on the lid very rubbed. - THanks frank

Hi Rat-tail.

The little box is a peppermint-box.
I think the makers mark is FB 105 and stands for Frederik van Baaren, who worked in Schoonhoven from 1853-1887
If it's alright, you see a very smal M in the head of Minerva pic. 4

Best regards

Athos - many thanks - and my apologies for not replying earlier, but have just seen this now. A peppermint box is something completely new to me. Regards frank
