This is a pair of old real emerald earrings. The mark is on the small backing of the earring and I can only somewhat tell what it is by viewing it with the windows picture and fax viewer. The first link is the mark and the second is a view of the whole earrings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have spent hours and hours looking, for days. I don't wanna influence anyone's opinion on the picture but to me is seems like a lion facing right and a circle thing. I need expert eye's to view desperately. Thank you so much

Is there a mark on the actual earring? I honestly could not read the marks on the ear-nut, but those need not be the one that origionally came with the earrings. A mark on the body of the earring would tell the maker.

No there is no mark at all on the earrings them self. I am assuming the backs are the originals as they are aged the same as the earrings. But yes I do not know if they are the original or not. since they are not marked, is there anything I can go on as to age? Would it mean they are older than when trademarks were required?

Quality stamping was required prior to 1900, and these look distinctly to be from the late 1020's through the late 1930's (if not later). Therefore they should have a quality make on them. One thing, they may have started off life as clip-ons or screw-backs wherein the mark would have been on the soldered on findings and lost when they were converted to posts.
