French spoon - who is maker 'I*D'?

Hello Forum,
I recently aquired this spoon:

I presume the spoon is French. It measures 8 ¼", is rather heavy and has an unusually (to me at least) elongated bowl. Does anyone know the maker? I can be 'I*D' or perhaps 'J*D'. Why would the maker strike his mark three times?

I'm also puzzled by the fact that the initials 'VB' (presumably the original owner) have been engraved with dots in front as well as after the letters.

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me about this peculiar spoon?
Kind regards
Mikael
