Unknown Birmingham Maker and Other Mark

Post by FireHorse »

Hello! I found this broken brooch in a button tin. I think I have understood the Lion mark (Sterling .925); Anchor (Birmingham City Mark); and Gothic k (Date Letter for 1884).

There are two other marks. One looks like an obscured maker's mark, possiby "something" H? The other mark is a complete mystery to me. Can anyone help, please?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

That's a British Registry Mark. See: http://www.925-1000.com/registry.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thank you, Trev!

Sadly, I think the mark letters/numbers surrounding the R are so unclear that I can't make them out. Apart from the number 2 above the R, so I suppose that is the 'day', but the rest elude me.

Interesting to have another piece of information about the brooch, though :)

Kind Regards

Julia
