Re: Help identifying a cross with hallmark
British Registered Design
Hello »vagon«
Welcome to the Forum.
The mark on yours cross isn't a »Hallmark« - it is the British sign, that that design is registered (Copyrighted).
Please look here: http://www.925-1000.com/registry.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In yours case it is the Table 2.
I = class = Metal
13 = day = 13th
7 = parcel number
Rd = Registered
I = year = 1872
C = month = January
Signification is that the design was Registered on 13 January 1872 for a design, made in metal.
But the object itself is made after that date - maybe many years later.
Kind regards silverport
