Hello,
Can anyone help me determining when and who made this watch case?
I found some hallmarks But can't seem to identify them.
The watch movement itself doesn't bring clarity either, the inscriptions "Elicot London" does not apaer in Baillie's "Watchmakers and Clocmakers of the world" (there are some "Ellicott" entries though).
The style of the movement apears to me as dating from the second half of the 18th century...

18th century watch case?
Re: 18th century watch case?
Hi,
I cannot help much, except to say that the marks are pseudos, perhaps of colonial origin.
Googling 'Elicot' produces other examples thought to be made in the 1800-1815 period.
Trev.
