help with date and maker mark SE for birmingham ring

Post by roxley »

hi there,

i have recently come across thing silver ring, and as i didn't recognize the marks, i checked online and so far i know it is sterling silver and it has the birmingham anchor mark. but i still do not know for sure what the date mark is, as my online searches range from late 1700's to mid 1800's. i have also done many searches for the makers mark SE, but nothing i have found is 100% certain. so far i have William Servant and Samuel Edwards, but i am hoping to get some expert opinions so that i can be sure.
can anyone help?

For just obtaining date marks there are a number of books to fit the pocket.
The one I keep in the car is Pocket Edition Jackson's Hallmarks English, Scottish, Irish Silver and Gold Marks
from 1300 to the Present Day. Edited by Ian Pickford. Published by The Antique Collectors Club.
It has been regularly reprinted but I do not know the year last reprinted.
