Unknown object and unknown hallmarks

Hello,

i wonder what this item is used for? Its shaped like a sugar shaker but its not :-)
What i know so far about the hallmarks, crowned G and knights helmet for the city of Ghent.
Probably mid 18th century.

Thats all i got. Any info would be very appreciated.

18th century Belgian silver mustard pot

Belgian city of Gent. Gent's hallmark bears a helmet which has yet to be explained. It is already in use in 1483; a text proves it. A crowned letter G is added in 1612. The S in cartouche appears to be the year letter for 1734-1735
The maker's mark is unclear.
