Robbe & Berking Spoons?

Post by Montana_Sterling »

These spoons read out at 84.5% Silver on an XRF machine, yet only have the single mark on them of R&B with an S(?) over the top.

I bought them assuming Reed and Barton silver plate, but after polishing one of the two I found no signs of plate and visited the XRF machine. There are a couple English makers that R&B might be, but then I would assume there would be other hallmarks. Also probably sterling.

Any chance these could be Robbe & Berking? I can't see a mark exactly like this, but I figure if anyone knows it's you folks on this amazing site. Thank you so much.

:::::::::::::::: This general style of spoon I have seen before and it was from Italy. :::::::::::::::::::::: Affluent and aristocratic people would go on a "Grand Tour" voyage and it would take them through Italy and they would buy coins and medals and spoons from various places in Italy and Greece and they were learning about world history along the way. :::::::::::::::::

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Anyone recognize this as being from Italy? :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
