A cake stand

I realize I'm breaking a rule (mark+item is required) but unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to photograph the item.
It's a beautiful, decorated cake stand that appears to be from the early 20th century.
In addition to the Sterling mark, it bears this mark.

It could also be rotated 180°.
Does anyone recognize it?
